Bala's new film 'Thaarai Thappattai' is music director Ilayaraja's 1,000th venture

The shoot for filmmaker Bala's upcoming film 'Thaarai Thappattai' has begun in Thanjavur.

Starring actor Sasikumar and actress Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, 'Tharai Thappattai' is based on ancient dance form Karakattam.

According to sources, there was a slight delay in the scheduled shoot for the film, due to extra attention paid to making sure the actors grasped the intricacies of the ancient dance form.
