Bengaluru: In the latest development in the corruption scam that has engulfed the Lokayukta's office in Karnataka, Justice Bhaskara Rao has written to the Lokayukta police not to continue with any investigation as of now.

Justice has asked the police to discontinue any investigation as the Special Investigation Team (SIT) appointed by the Karnataka High Court is investigating the corruption charges.

This came after the FIR against Justice Rao’s son Ashwin was stayed by the High Court. The Lokayukta’s son had allegedly asked for Rs 1 crore from an engineer to stop the raid.

Earlier, sources had said that the Karnataka Lokayukta targeted as many as 150 officials, including IAS and IPS officers. They were asked for money to prevent raids.

The extortion calls to the officers were made from six to seven different numbers.

An FIR in the case was registered after Karnataka Lokayukta Justice Bhaskar Rao's phone records were traced to the Lokayukta office.

Ashwin was named in the FIR as the complainant identified him from his photographs in media, said sources.

FIR was filed against Ashwin by Karnataka Lokayukta SP Sonia Narang on Tuesday in the multi-crore blackmailing and extortion scam.
