BBMP chief backs BU on public vehicle ban

BANGALORE:  The Bangalore University (BU) Vice-Chancellor Dr N Prabhu Dev’s request to make the roads passing through the BU campus exclusively for the varsity has received a further push. The BBMP commissioner M K Shankarlinge Gowda, at a press conference here on Wednesday, did not rule out the possibility of limiting the access to the road to BU.“The VC has requested that entry into the roads passing through the University to ensure the safety of the students and to maintain calm around the University. But before that, alternative roads have to be improved,” said Gowda. With the construction of the new outer ring road (ORR) between Magadi Road and Mysore Road via Nagarabhavi, an alternative road is available for general public. When asked whether he has set a deadline for the upgrading work of the road, Gowda said a January 15, 2012 deadline was given to fill up the potholes on the stretch.
