Bengaluru: New Bus Routes Introduced; Residents to Now Pay Tax on Garbage Disposal Among Other City News
Amid rising costs of essential commodities, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has drawn public ire for proposing a new garbage disposal cess on city residents.

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has launched new bus routes under the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) to enhance public transportation across the city. Starting Friday, July 5, BMTC introduced buses on several new routes aimed at improving commuter convenience and accessibility. The initiative aims to provide efficient, reliable, comfortable, and economical transport options to residents of Bengaluru.

The new routes include:

  1. From the back gate of MF-2 Baiyappanahalli metro station to Ramamurthynagar bridge. Departure times: 7:20, 8:00, 8:40, 9:20, 10:25, 17:05, 17:45, 18:25, 19:30, 20:10, 20:50.
  2. B. Channasandra, SBI Bank, Kasturnagar 2nd Stage, Benniganahalli Bridge, and Sadananda Nagar. Departure times: 7:40, 8:20, 9:00, 9:40, 17:25, 18:05, 18:45, 19:50, 20:30.

The introduction of these routes is part of BMTC’s ongoing efforts to expand its service network and cater to the growing commuting needs of Bengaluru’s residents.

BBMP Faces Criticism Over Proposed Garbage Disposal Cess

Amid rising costs of essential commodities, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has drawn public ire for proposing a new garbage disposal cess on city residents. The additional financial burden, estimated at Rs 100 per month per household, comes at a time when residents are already grappling with soaring prices of daily necessities.

The BBMP’s move to levy this cess has sparked controversy, with many residents expressing dismay over the timing and necessity of such a measure.

KEA Releases List of Eligible Candidates for Special Category Quotas

The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has published the list of eligible and ineligible candidates under special categories such as NCC, Sainik, Ex-Servicemen, Scouts and Guides, and Anglo-Indian for admission to medical, engineering, and other professional courses.

Candidates who applied under these categories had submitted their documents online for verification. The KEA has now released the verified list on its official website. According to KEA Executive Director H Prasanna, the list of KEEDA quota candidates will be announced soon after thorough verification by concerned authorities.
