Bhopal: Eight terror suspects of the banned outfit SIMI (Students Islamic Movement of India) managed to escape from the Bhopal central jail early on Monday morning by killing the security guard and scaling the prison wall with the help of bed sheets, Police said.
The accused who are under trials and repeat offenders slit the throat of the guard with a steel plate and glass after overpowering him, Singh added.
Three of the eight accused had fled the Khandwa jail in Madhya Pradesh in 2013 and were intercepted in Odisha almost two years after being on the run.
One of the accused was held responsible for plotting a bomb blast in 2012.

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh spoke to Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Chauhan and sought a detailed report over the incident.
Chauhan also held a high level meeting with officials post his conversation with Singh.
Reacting to the incident Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Bhupendra Thakur said that it was a security lapse by the jail authorities and is clearly unacceptable.
"The accused who have a history of crime against them shouldn't have been kept in the same barracks and that surely led them to plan this whole escape extensively," Thakur added.
Congress leader Digvijay Singh however termed it as "conspiracy" and sought a detailed investigation in the matter.
A manhunt has been launched to arrest the culprits and security has been tightened in the city. Vital points in the national capital also also under alert, officials added.
At least five officials from the Central jail including the superintendent have been suspended following the incident.
A reward of rupees 5 lakh has been announced for anyone who shares more information about the absconders.
