Leander Paes-Martin Damm suffered a first round defeat in the US Open.
New York: The pair of Leander Paes and Martin Damm went out of the US Open in the first round of the men’s doubles event on Thursday. The fourth seeded pair who won the US Open last year lost 7-6 (7/1), 3-6, 4-6 to unseeded Frenchmen Julien Benneteau and Nicolas Mahut.
However, fellow Indian Mahesh Bhupati along with his Serbian teammate Nenad Zimonjic reached the second round by defeating Russian pair of Igor Kunitsyn and Dmitry Tursunov 6-3, 7-5. The sixth seeded pair will face Americans Robert Kendrick and Sam Querrey in the second round.
