BANGALORE: A 41-year-old man was beaten to death by unidentified persons at New Thippasandra on Thursday afternoon. The deceased has been identified as M Kempapura Murthy, president of BJP ST Morcha. He was attacked by a gang of four persons at about 2.30pm on Thursday afternoon. Police said the incident occurred when Murthy had stepped out of his house. The miscreants who had come in a car were waiting for Murthy. As soon as he came out of the house, they attacked him with lethal weapons and later fled scene, the police said. Murthy was immediately rushed to a private hospital. However, he succumbed to injuries at 5.50 pm, the police added. Jeevanbima Nagar police have registered a case and are yet to ascertain the motive behind the attack. The assailants are still at large. Meanwhile, it is learnt that Murthy was involved in real estate and into finance business. Jewels stolen from Marriage Hall Over 600 grams of gold jewels worth over Rs 12 lakh were stolen from a marriage hall on Bannerghatta Road on Thursday morning. The incident took place when all people were busy in marriage muhurtam.The ornaments were stolen from the bridegroom’s room on first floor of Kalyani Kalyana Mantapa, the police said.
