BANGLORE: BJP’s election committee that met on Saturday without former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa zeroed on two party candidates for the vacant Rajya Sabha seats.The committee decided to transfer its surplus votes to liquor baron Audikesavulu, who was expected contest as independent backed by the JD (S). The party decided to retain sitting member K B Shanappa, from scheduled caste category as its first candidate and chose senior party leader Ramakrishna from Andhra Pradesh for the purpose as the second one.The meetings of the election committee and core committee were held simultaneously at Jagannath Bhavan, the state headquarters, in Malleshwaram. The meetings were presided over by state unit president K S Eshwarappa and attended by chief minister D V Sadananda Gowda along with other party members. Eshwarappa said three to four names were discussed for the RS elections and the same would be sent to the Central Parliamentary Board for finalisation. He, however, refused to disclose the names. “You will come to know when the central office releases the names of the candidates,” he said.
