BANGALORE: The residents of Amarjyothi Layout appeals the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) to address their grievances  of continuous shortage of water, bad roads and lack of maintenance of footpaths in their locality. City Express takes a detailed look at the issues and complains against the authorities concerned,  as stated by the Amarjyothi Layout Residents Welfare Association.K Krisnamoorthy, President of  Amarjyothi Layout Welfare Residents Association said, “There are no installation of water pipes in any of the houses.”The blame game between the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) and Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB), have made things even worse. Krisnamoorthy said, “We have filed many complains to the area corporator and also to the BWSSB officials. However, the corporator blames the BWSSB for the issues and vice versa.” The Secretary of the association, Robin said, “Roads are a big issue in this locality. The ring road, which is part of Amarjyothi layout has pathetic roads, making it difficult for motorists to drive at night. As far as streets are concerned, they are not maintained well.”When City Express contacted corporator Geetha Srinivasa Reddy, she denied of receiving any such complaints and also on existence of any such water problems. She said, “For last 20 years, there had been many issues at  Amarjyothi Layout which the previous corporator overlooked. However, I worked on most of the issues in this area. On December 29, 2011, I discussed the water issues  with BBMP and got `46 lakh sanctioned immediately to lay the UGD pipes. From the day I have taken my office as a corporator, the Amarjyothi Layout Welfare Residents Association is trying to find some or the other issue in my ward, as they are not content with me holding the post.”On the other developmental works initiated by her, she added, “I had constructed a park for the area. There were several parking issues which have been solved now. There was water overflowing in front many houses near Natural Valley because of construction of a concrete slab. The residents were suffering due to the contaminated water, so I went with 4-5 workers and broke the slab to divert the water out of the area.” The corporator was quite fumed on the fact that the developments that have resulted due her efforts have been neglected. She concluded saying, “ I am fed up with these allegations by this association. I urge the people to give me in writing on whatever issues they are facing and I will look into those matters.”
