Botcha hopes Telangana crisis will end by August

HYDERABAD: Hoping that the central government would come out with a permanent solution to the Telangana issue by the end of July, PCC president Botcha Satyanarayana made it clear on Thursday that the sensitive problem did not concern the students of the region alone but had also put a question mark over the state’s future.Interacting with Telangana BC Forum’s representatives who included university students at the PCC office here, he asserted that he would place the ‘existing facts’ relating to the ongoing Telangana movement before the UPA government and the Congress high command.Talking to newsmen later, Botcha said that his party would take a decision on Telangana after hearing the views of all other political parties in the state. The ruling Congress would take a decision even if there was no response from other parties, he hastened to add.On TRS leader K Chandrasekhara Rao’s meeting with Telangana Congress leaders the PCC president said that he did not see anything wrong in it.There was no need for Telangana Congress leaders to take PCC president’s permission to hold meetings on issues concerning their region, he clarified and even offered to bring their views to to the high command’s notice if his help was sought. He refused to answer further questions on the bifurcation issue.With regard to Clause 14 (f) of the Presidential Order, he attributed the controversy to communication gap.“Home minister P Sabitha Reddy had clearly said the government was making efforts to have the clause deleted and ensure no injustice to candidates from Telangana.Even Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal had never said that he was against deletion of the clause.The state government and the Congress party were equally striving to protect the interests of Telangana students, he assured the forum.
