New Delhi: The Jantar Mantar will once again be the venue for an anti-corruption protest on Sunday, with Arvind Kejriwal taking centrestage this time. He has asked his supporters to gherao the houses of the Prime Minister and BJP President Nitin Gadkari on the coal block allocation issue, but has this move been welcomed by all those earlier associated with Team Anna?
The team was disbanded a month back and now its members are showing clear signs of ideological conflict simmering for long. While Kiran Bedi will attend the Sunday protest at Jantar Mantar on Coalgate she will not picket outside Gadkari's residence, she tweeted, accountability should be sought from people in power.
While Kejriwal appears to be keeping equidistance from both parties, he has tweeted, asking his supporters to picket Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh and Orissa Chief Minister.
This is not the first time sharp differences have appeared between Kejriwal and Bedi.
Bedi’s statements last year about LK Advani's phone call ending the impasse did not go down well with Kejriwal and Prashant Bhushan. Bedi also opposed transition of Team Anna into a political outfit and now Bedi has clearly opposed any protest against the BJP.
IAC Member Kumar Vishwas said, "Bedi will also learn in future that by only removing the Congress is not a solution."
Meanwhile, in view of the protests, the Delhi Traffic Police has ordered shutting down six metro stations from 8 am to 6 pm on Sunday. The Delhi police and the government have already made it clear that they will not allow a rally beyond Jantar Mantar.
