TIRUCHY: On the orders of Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, CB-CID sleuths, on Tuesday, commenced their investigation into the death of Minister for Environment N Mariyam Pitchai.Mariyam Pitchai died in an accident at Thiruvilakurichi near Padalur in Perambalur district on Monday morning. The family members and AIADMK cadre suspected the circumstances leading to the accident.The Chief Minister who flew to Tiruchy to pay homage in the afternoon, announced a probe by CB-CID. Accordingly, CB-CID sleuths, DIG Sridhar, Superintendent of Police Rajeswari and others commenced the inquiry on Tuesday. The team visited the accident spot and conducted a study. Then it went to the Padalur police station and interrogated S Anandan who was driving the car in which the Minister was travelling at the time of accident. The team also inquired the Personal Security Officer of the Minister, P Maheswaran who is undergoing treatment for spinal cord injury at the Tiruchy GH. Superintendent of Police S Nizamuddin was also present.Later the team carried out inquiries with the persons who had accompanied the late minister. The sleuths collected the images of the vehicles that were stored in the camera at check-posts. Meanwhile, the CB-CID formed a special team consisting of Inspector Rajeswari, DSPs Raja and Rajarajan and nine Inspectors and is searching for the container lorry and its driver.In a parallel development, DIG AG Mouria formed two special teams in Perambalur and four teams in the adjacent districts to investigate the incident.
