KOCHI: The class XII Accountancy exam of the CBSE held on Thursday was a nightmare, according to students. Many students complained that the question paper was terribly lengthy and ambiguous and therefore much beyond their level of comprehension. The issue has been communicated to the CBSE in complaints filed by centre superintendents and principals of various schools in the country. According to teachers, the crux of the problem was the changed pattern of the question paper this year, which made it difficult for the students to finish the examination in the stipulated time. The problems had multiple logic and were lengthy, which added to the trouble.“The question paper was set in a manner which would require 4 to 5 hours to answer all the questions. It must have been a very stiff test for the students, as it was clearly above the levels expected of them,” said Head of the Commerce Department at Cochin Refineries School. Many students left the exam hall in tears as they were unable to attempt all the questions. “Some questions were confusing and even lacked some important facts. One question about debt did not mention the profit, which is vital in calculating debt. I had to leave out the last two questions, as there was simply no time,” said Rezana, a student of Cochin Refineries School.
