BANGALORE: With the court remanding former CM B S Yeddyurappa and former minister Krishnaiah Shetty to judicial custody, the central prison at Parappana Agrahara, which housed the who is who of the criminal world till now, is turning out to be the house for the high and mighty of state politics.It was Shetty who entered the jail in the afternoon, followed by Yeddyurappa in the evening. Shetty, at 2.55 pm, was brought to the prison in an 108 Emergency ambulance, as he collapsed in the court hall after hearing that he was denied bail. It was found that he was suffering from low blood pressure on his arrival and was treated at the prison hospital.Later, he was given badge number 10461 before his details were updated in the prison software. Then he was sent to the Special Security Block and into a barrack next to the one where former minister Katta Jagadish Naidu and Itasca company’s MD Srinivas have been kept. Dr H N Krishna, the state’s former information commissioner, is also staying in the same block.Yeddyurappa arrived at 5.55 pm along with Lokayukta sleuths and was given 10,462 as his badge number. Then he was taken to the prison hospital where he underwent a medical test. However, till late in the night, he was not shifted to any barrack. The prison’s chief superintendent Lakshminarayana said that there is only a bed and TV set in the barrack. “The duo have to share a bathroom and toilet. They did not demand home food,” he said.However, a prison official said that the duo were given a biscuit pack and milk in the night. “Though one of Yeddyurappa’s family members had come with food, they were not allowed inside as it was too late,” he added.Meanwhile, MLAs Haratal Halappa, Nandish Reddy, Belur Gopala Krishna, Yeddyurappa’s personal assistant Siddalinga Swamy and others had come to meet Yeddyurappa. However, nobody was allowed inside. DIG of the prison department also paid a visit to the jail to supervise the arrangements.Meanwhile, Katta Jagadish Naidu welcomed Shetty to prison.
