Chandrababu Naidu meets Japan PM to seek co-operation on developing AP
The Chief Minister invited Abe to Andhra Pradesh during his trip to India in January.

Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, currently on a visit to Japan, on Friday met Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, who expressed confidence that bilateral ties between India and his country would be strengthened further.

During the meeting, Abe said Japan would extend full cooperation to Andhra Pradesh in building a world-class capital city, a release from AP government said.

"Japan will extend full cooperation to the new state of Andhra Pradesh in its development and also in building the capital city," the release quoted Abe as saying.

Abe said the meeting will strengthen bilateral ties between Japan and India and open new vistas for both the countries in strategic and global partnership.

In a short span of time, Abe said, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Naidu have visited the country, seeking its cooperation for building smart cities and in improving bilateral ties.

Abe was quoted as saying, "We are hopeful of improving and strengthening our relations with India and Andhra Pradesh in various sectors like trade and commerce, infrastructure, technology, agriculture and automobiles".

The Chief Minister invited Abe to Andhra Pradesh during his trip to India in January. Naidu presented the 'Prasadam' of Lord Venkateswara temple of Tirupati to Abe and also a memento.

India's Ambassador to Japan Deepa Gopalan Wadhwa, state ministers Y Ramakrishnudu and P Narayana, MPs Galla Jayadev, CM Ramesh, AP special representative in Delhi K Ramamohan Rao, Advisor (communications) to AP government Parakala Prabhakar, CM's Principal Secretary Satish Chandra and others were present at the meeting, the release added.

Naidu, who left for Japan in the early hours of Monday, met senior officials of major Japanese companies like Hitachi, Isuzu and sought investments in AP and also help in developing the state's capital city.

The state government has decided to locate the capital in the Vijayawada-Guntur region.
