CHOTTANIKKARA: The officials of Cochin Devaswom Board (CDB) are confident of resolving the issues concerning Chottanikkara Devi Temple before the Navarathri celebrations. A meeting of officials was held at the Devaswom office recently to discuss the issues affecting the functioning of the temple. The accumulating piles of solid waste, pitiable condition of the comfort stations, dilapidated roads and scarcity of drinking water were discussed at the meet.The board with the support of the local administration, various departments and temple advisory committee has drafted a plan for treating the waste at the solid waste treatment plant. A renovated comfort station is also being readied for devotees, bearing in mind the Sabarimala season also. The new Navarathri Mandapam and Annadana Mandapam at the temple are nearing completion. The board officials said the road to the temple would be repaired soon.The board is also planning to acquire adequate land for future development projects of the temple.Initial procedures in connection with the resurvey and fixing of the real boundaries to build compound walls for the land owned by the board near the temple is on. “With the completion of the ongoing projects and execution of the plans, almost all the problems faced by the devotees can be resolved, said a senior board official.
