DPCC chief Rambabu Sharma says ticket distributions were done after consulting Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit.

New Delhi: DPCC chief Rambabu Sharma on Sunday said distribution of tickets in civic polls was done in consultation with Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit.

"I cannot be squarely blamed for distribution of tickets. The Chief Minister was fully involved in the process," Sharma told PTI.

The defeat in the civic polls has intensified intra-party squabbling with loyalists of Sharma and Dikshit demanding resignation of the leaders of rival camps.

Around 30 former councillors, who were denied tickets, met Dikshit on Sunday and urged her to put pressure for her bete noire Sharma's resignation.

Dikshit is believed to have assured them of taking their complaints to the party high command. The former councillors, who met Dikshit, included Madhu Arya, Anil Basist, Memwati Berwala, Jitender Kocchar and Sabitri Sharma.

The Rambabu Sharma camp has demanded Dikshit's resignation, holding her responsible for the drubbing.

Hassan Ahmed, DPCC Vice President and Sharma loyalist, said if Dikshit can take credit for the Congress' victory in 1992 MCD polls then why she should not be held responsible for the poor show this time.

Raj Kumar Kohli and Sanjeev Jain, DPCC office-bearers, also made similar demands, asking Dikshit to step down from the Chief Minister's post.
