BANGALORE: Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda met a group of employees of the Karnataka Sports Authority who were sitting in a peaceful protest at the Freedom Park on Tuesday. When he sought what the problem was, the employees made a presentation of their problems to the chief minister who then promised to look into their matters. The employees were asking for regularisation of their jobs as even after many years of service, majority of them are on contract basis. Their other demands were to merge the Karnataka Sports Authority with the Department of Youth Services and Sports and to appoint a managing director to look over everyday functions. They are also demanding a say in the way stadiums and sports schools across the state are being managed. Addressing their issues, the CM said, “Come to my office on October 3, I will call the concerned officials from the Finance Department and we will certainly look into your requests.” This spur of the moment decision by the chief minister left the protesters pleasantly surprised.
