Collector to visit waste plant in US

KOCHI: District Collector P I Sheik Pareeth will visit the United States to study about advanced technologies in solid waste management.He will visit a plant which has the capacity of treating 20 tonnes of waste a day even without separating the degradable and non-degradable waste.The collector hoped that this advanced technology could be used first in Kadamakkudy panchayat by the district administration in collaboration with Goshree Island Development Authority (GIDA) and Kerala Industrial and Technical Consultancy Organisation (KITCO).It will cost around `5 crore to install such a plant in Kadamakkudy panchayat. Pareeth will also hold discussions with the technology companies regarding canal-cleaning technologies.
