BANGALORE: Goethe-Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan and India Foundation for the Arts (IFA) organises the Arts Education Conference which takes place on February 3 and 4. Conference is held at National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA), Palace Road. The Art Education conference has been conceptualised against the backdrop of the joint GI/MMB — IFA arts pedagogy training project, Kali-Kalisu, which has been running in the state of Karnataka with government school teachers since mid-2009. It centres on the links between arts education, diversity and social justice and will address issues of gender, disability and cultural diversity in the educational context. The conference hopes to spark off the conversations between researchers, practitioners and teachers, and investigate a range of artistic practices and pedagogical strategies that address gaps in the educational system in the country. Some of the key speakers and discussants at the conference will include Astad Deco, contemporary dancer-choreographer; MallikaDutt, CEO of Breakthrough, a global human rights organisation and others.
