Mumbai: In Maharashtra, the war of words between the Congress and the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena on Biharis in the state descended into a street fight on Sunday night.
Congress leader Sanjay Nirupam has alleged that workers of the Raj Thackarey-led MNS stoned and smashed his wife’s car.
Thackeray's supporters attacked the car with sticks and stones to avenge Nirupam's recent remarks against the MNS chief, sources said.
Accusing Thackarey and his party workers for the attack, Nirupam said that the entire issue is politically motivated.
Meanwhile, police have registered a case of rioting and may interrogate a few MNS workers.
“Prima facie we have information that the attackers were MNS workers. We are investigating the matter and we will bring the miscreants to book,” Deputy Commissioner of Police, Vinay Chaubey said.
