SHIMOGA:  BJP state general secretary and MLA CT Ravi alleged that the UPA government has not been taking steps to bring back the black money stashed in foreign banks.
He told reporters here on Friday that if the Centre is really committed to bringing back the black money, it should exhibit its honesty by framing legislation at the earliest.Extending the BJP's support to the anticorruption agitation launched by social activist Anna Hazare and yoga guru Baba Ramdev, Ravi said that during the Lok Sabha elections, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had promised that steps would be taken to bring back the black money parked abroad within 100 days, if the UPA government was voted to power again.

Even after two years, the Centre has failed to take steps, he alleged.

"When nations such as the Philippines, Ukraine, Germany and the United States took steps to bring back the money, why is it impossible for India? Prime Minister Manmohan Singh might be honest, but he is in the grip of corrupt leaders. In the last three years, scams to the tune of Rs 3.5 lakh crore have come to light. It had been trying to suppress the agitation launched against corruption", Ravi alleged.
