Convene allparty meet on Thermal Plants

HYDERABAD: Senior BJP leader Bandaru Dattatreya on Sunday demanded that chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy convene an allparty meeting to discuss the ecohazards of numerous thermal power plants proposed by the state government in Nellore and North Coastal Andhra region.
The state government has proposed to set up 23 thermal power plants in North Coastal Andhra and 24 thermal units in Nellore district, which is the highest in number in the country. In a letter addressed to the chief minister, the BJP leader stated that the proposed power plants generate thousands of tonnes of flyash which poses a grave threat to environment.
