MADURAI: The district court here on Tuesday adjourned the hearing on a petition seeking police custody of four DMK functionaries from Madurai, who were arrested and jailed on various charges, including land grabbing and murder.‘Pottu’ Suresh, who was lodged in the Palayamkottai Prison and booked under the Goondas Act in connection with land grabbing cases, was brought to the judicial magistrate court. The hearing on police custody for ‘Attack’ Pandi, before the Judicial magistrate court VI, was also held on Tuesday.‘Essar’ Gopi, who was arrested was produced before the Judicial Magistrate VI in an auto driver murder case. Police submitted their petition seeking police custody of ‘Essar’ Gopi in this case. As such, the judge adjourned the hearing for August 4.VK Gurusamy, East Zone chairman of the Madurai Corporation, was arrested on charges of land grabbingAs two others - Mayil Murugan of the AIADMK and Stalin - filed separate complaints against him in Teppakulam and Keeraithurai police stations, the police produced him before the Judicial Magistrate Court-VI.The judge extended his custody till August 16.
