New Delhi: After being stranded in Pakistan for 15 years, Gita, the speech impaired Indian national, will return home on October 26.

This was confirmed to CNN-IBN by Gita's foster family in Pakistan. Gita used sign language to tell CNN-IBN that she is happy to be reuniting with her family and that she wants to meet Bollywood actor Salman Khan when she is back in India.

The Ministry of External Affairs confirmed that Gita's parents have been traced to Bihar with the help of three photographs and once she is back in India a DNA test will also be conducted to confirm parentage.

Pakistani activists had launched a campaign to unite Gita, who has been stranded in the neighbouring country, with her family. The renewed push to unite the woman with her parents comes to light soon after the success of Bollywood film 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan'.

Kabir Khan, the director of the film 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan on Thursday congratulated Gita and said he'll soon organise a meeting with Salman Khan. "I want to congratulate Gita, i hope to see it happening when Gita meets her family. I will inform Salman Khan and ask him to meet Gita and will organise a meeting."

The Punjab Rangers brought her to the Edhi Foundation nearly 14 years ago, said Faisal Edhi of the social welfare group. "For years, we have been trying to locate her family or her hometown so that she can return," Faisal said. After spending some time at an Edhi Centre in Lahore, the girl was moved to a Karachi shelter where Bilquis Edhi, a philanthropist known as 'The Mother of Pakistan', named her 'Gita' and became quite attached to the girl.

Gita is believed to have mistakenly crossed into the Pakistani territory as a child. Though she managed to recognise the Indian map on a mobile phone, she has not been successful in conveying any other information to the Edhi staff.
