Delhi: Nurse alleges rape at hotel by owner's personal staff
The nurse, a Tibetan national, had been hired by the hotel owner to take care of his ailing wife.

New Delhi: A 28-year-old nurse, who hailed from Tibet was allegedly gang-raped by two youths in a reputed five-star hotel in Hazrat Nizamuddin area of southeast Delhi, police said. The two accused, identified as Neeraj and Rajan, in their early 20s, have been arrested.

"The 28-year-old nurse has alleged that she was raped by the duo in Oberoi Hotel. Both of them have been arrested," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (southeast) P Karunakaran.

The victim, who works with a well-known hospital, had gone to the hotel to look after the ailing wife of the hotel's owner, who needed an attendant 24X7 due to her medical condition. Neeraj and Rajan were also hired by the woman's family to take care of the woman, said another senior police official.

According to the victim's statement, Rajan and Neeraj raped her in the guest room of the suite of the hotel where the patient was put up. The nurse was allegedly first gang raped by the duo on midnight of Independence Day. They had threatened her of dire consequences if she revealed the incident to anyone.

However, she revealed it to her husband last night after the duo tried to assault her again last night. The woman's husband then informed the police and based on a complaint by the victim, a case under appropriate sections of the IPC was registered at Hazrat Nizamuddin police station.

A medical examination of the nurse also confirmed rape. "The incident is very unfortunate. The individuals in question are not hotel employees. We are fully cooperating with the police and local authorities with the investigation," said Deepica Sharma, communications manager of The Oberoi Hotel located at Dr Zakir Hussain Marg.
