THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The daredevils seem to be on a roll. ‘De-Rock You Merz’, the city based B-Boying dance troupe, has made it to the final round of the first national B-boying competition. B-boying, an acrobatic dance form that synchronises hip hop with swift, power moves and freezes, found a competition platform for the first time in the country when ‘Battle of the Year’ was organised in Mumbai on July 17. The competition saw 15 B-boying groups from various parts of the country competing for a place in the finals. ‘De-Rock You Merz’ has found a place in the finals along with other nine groups. ‘De-Rock You Merz’, which has already over 100 stage shows to its credit, also runs a dance school at Vazhuthacaud for B-boying. A victory in the final round will qualify the troupe to participate in B-boying competitions organised at the international level. During the ‘Battle of the Year’, Midh, a member of ‘De-Rock You Merz’ was also selected as the best B-boy. The final of ‘Battle of the Year’ will be held on July 31 in Chennai. In the final, nine groups will perform, out of which four will be selected as winners.
