DMK stuns Centre with PM Pitch

NEW DELHI: The DMK deci­ded to have its sweet revenge on Tuesday, by calling for the Prime Minister to be included within Lokpal jurisdictio­n. This comes as a blow to the government, which is banki­ng on political parties—more importantly UPA allies—to share its views and bail it out on the Lokpal Bill.The government knew that civil society representatives could not ultimately immuni­se their draft from the poli­tical process. But what it did not expect, perhaps, was a mini revolt within its ranks.For DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi who has lost all ammunition to blackmail the UPA-II government, which his party so critically support­s and which he feels has done nothing to get his MP daught­er Kanimozhi out of jail, this is perhaps a desperate move.Karunanidhi chose to visi­t Delhi the same day as the UPA meeting on Lokpal, but skipped the meet, and met his daughter in jail.
