BANGALORE: Sleuths of Central Crime Branch (CCB) arrested two persons in connection with mortgaging land worth crores of rupees by preparing fake documents in the name of a deceased person. The accused have been identified as Gopala Krishna alias Srinivasa Rao, 54 and Rangaswamy, 50, both residents of J P Nagar. According to sources, late Nagendra, an agent and owner of Gayathri Enterprises had entered into an agreement with members of Vijayangar Industrial Worker’s Housing Society, that 44 acres and 34 guntas of land at Yelanka and Yeshwantpur would be distributed among the members of the Society. He had collected Rs1.79 crore from the members. Since Nagendra failed to distribute the land, the land was taken back by the BDA. The police said there were no claimants for the said property after the death of Nagendra in 1996. However, the accused created fake documents in the name of Nagendra. Krishna, an accused, registered the property in guise of Nagendra. Girish Kumar, a resident of Gandhinagar, was duped, who bought the property for Rs 56.50 lakh and allegedly mortgaged the property at Raja Rajeshwari sub-registrar office and cheated the Society. Based on the complaint lodged by the Society’s president B N Rajendra,  the accused were nabbed. Police seized Rs 10 lakh from them.
