ERODE: The anti-land grab wing at the office of the Erode Superintendent of Police has admitted to receiving several fake complaints.Warning of severe action against such complainants, it said it has received over 485 petitions since it was set up on June 27.The cell has disposed of nearly 150 petitions as invalid and registered eight cases so far.The case that hogged the headlines the most was the one that led to the arrest of DMK district secretary and former minister N K K P Raja, Mayor Kumarmurugesh and DMK district deputy secretary, based on a complaint by a landlord, P C Ramasamy of Perundurai, that a gang of 12 had grabbed his two-acre land in 2004. Seven persons, including Raja and Kumarmurugesh, are now lodged in the Coimbatore prison in that case.The police said they had also received some complaints that are already being dealt with in the civil court.
