KHAMMAM: Hundreds of farmers, under the aegis of CPI (ML) New Democracy, took out a rally in Kothagudem on Monday and besieged the RDO’s office denouncing the ‘anti-ryot policies’ of the Congress government. Over 2,000 farmers who declared a crop holiday in kharif, participated in the rally taken out from Lakshmidevipalli.Addressing farmers, Rythu Coolie Sangham state general secretary and former MLA G Narasaiah demanded that the state government pay a compensation of Rs 10,000 per acre to paddy farmers who left their lands fallow in kharif season. The unsold paddy with farmers should be purchased at a price of `2,500 per quintal. Though farmers of 17 villages in the district declared a crop holiday due to lack of remunerative price for their produce, the government failed to come to their rescue, he said. Rythu Sangham leader S Venkateswarlu blamed the government for the agricultural crisis in the state.
