An FIR has been registered against rationalist leader Professor KS Bhagwan for allegedly hurting religious sentiments. The FIR was registered in Mangalore in Karnataka.
This comes shortly after the Bengaluru police arrested one person for allegedly making threat calls against the rationalist leader. The suspect had allegedly made 20 threat calls to the Sahitya Academy office in Bengaluru.
He had objected to the Academy choosing Professor Bhagwan for the Karnataka Sahitya Academy award.
Meanwhile, reports said that the police had provided security to the office bearers of the academy. The academy is slated to present the award to the rationalist leader on November 7.
This comes days after the murder of rationalist leaders MM Kalaburgi and Govind Pansare.
