BANGALORE: Former chairman of the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC), Dr H N Krishna, who is accused of irregularities and malpractice in the selection of gazetted probationers between 1998 and 2004, was remanded in judicial custody on Wednesday.He was sent to central prison at Parappana Agrahara after a magistrate court reserved orders on his bail petition till Thursday.Krishna was arrested by the sleuths of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in connection with the case on October 7 and was produced before the court.The court had granted him interim bail till October 12 on his plea to attend his adopted daughter’s wedding.As its validity ended on Wednesday, the hearing of the bail petition was taken up by the Eighth Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) Court’s judge Kiran Kini.The accused Krishna was also present during the hearing.Reserving the bail application order, the judge posted the hearing for Thursday.With this, Krishna, who had resigned as the state Information Commissioner on September 19 after the CID police had filed an FIR against him in the High Court, was forced to spend the night in the central prison as he was remanded in judicial custody.Meanwhile, Krishna arrived in the central prison at around 6.30 pm and was subjected to a medical checkup at the prison’s hospital.Prison officials said a decision on which cell Krishna should be kept in had not been taken, but it was likely that he would spend the night at the hospital itself.
