BANGALORE: Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa on Monday laid the foundation stone for the construction of  Rs 500 crore Knowledge Park for life science industry in Electronic City.
The biotech park in Bangalore Helix is expected to be the biggest in the country."With the commencement of the work for Biocluster, we have taken another step towards setting up a worldclass infrastructure for the Biotech industry, R D institutions and organizations engaged in Biotech related activities," the chief minister said on the occasion.

The Bangalore Helix is slowly mushrooming as a major IT/BT hub, Yeddyurappa said.

"The Biotech sector is facing talent shortage. To address this problem, the State Government has sanctioned 12 BT Finishing Schools, which are expected to train people with industry required skills for employment in the Biotech sector," Yeddyurappa said.

"There will be a Marine Biotech Park in Mangalore, Dharwad will have an agri biotech park, a Vivarium (Animal House) biotech park is being planned in Bidar and in Mysore a Nutri / Nutraceutical and Phyto Pharmaceutical Park will be built," she said.

The company in the first phase will have facilities spread over 56 acres of land and 24 months time has been given to complete the project.
