CHENNAI: As part of a week-long programme for the welfare of residents of Pattinapakkam, a medical camp was organised jointly by the National Service Scheme volunteers, Quaid E Milleth College For Women, and Manju Foundation, at the fisherfolk’s community welfare hall on Tuesday.Speaker D Jayakumar inaugurated the camp in the presence of R Rajalakshmi, MLA, Mylapore. “The camp is being organised by the first and fifth NSS unit, and includes an eye camp by Dr Agarwal’s Eye Hospital, a routine health check- up by Fortis Hospital Malar and a dental camp by Meenakshmi Ammal Dental College and Hospital. More than 1,000 members are expected to participate in this medical camp in which 60 free cataract surgeries (50 by Dr Agarwal’s Eye Hospital and 10 by AN Noor Eye Hospital) are to be performed, and 50 glasses are to be issued free of cost,” said J Stella, NSS programme officer and organiser of the camp.
