HYDERABAD: The special CBI court on Thursday dismissed bail petitions of former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhan Reddy and his brother-in-law B V Srinivas Reddy, key accused in the OMC illegal mining case. The Magistrate B Naga Maruthi Sharma dismissed petitions filed by Janardhan Reddy and his brother-in-law BV Srinivas Reddy seeking bail on the grounds the investigation is in a crucial stage.The CBI counsel had stated illegal mining took place under the Obulapuram Mining Company.Dismissing the bail petition, the Court stated the central government had granted land to the OMC under lease for iron ore mining and there was an agreement between OMC directors and the Government of India, which the former violated by allowing third parties into mining iron ore.The alleged illegal mining comes under section 409 (Criminal breach of trust by public servant) of IPC.“The investigation into illegal mining is in a crucial stage and granting bail is against section 167 (2) of CrPC,’’ the court said. It was for the third consecutive time the special CBI court had dismissed the petition filed by Gali and his brother-in-law BV Srinivas Reddy.Janardhan Reddy’s counsel filed a fresh petition seeking bail for Janardhan Reddy and his brother-in-law on November 8. Hearing on IT DeptPleas on Nov 18: The special CBI court on Thursday also posted the hearing on providing copies of seized documents of Kadapa MP YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and Emaar Properties to the income tax department to November 18.The income tax departments of Hyderabad and Bengaluru had filed four petitions seeking copies of documents recovered by the CBI in connection with alleged corruption by Jagan and alleged irregularities in Emaar land deal. Hearing on money Transfer on Nov 28: The Magistrate B Naga Maruthi Sharma also posted the hearing on transfer of the amount recovered from Gali Janardhan Reddy’s and his brother-in-law BV Srinivas Reddy’s houses to the income tax department to November 28.The IT department officials of Karnataka filed petitions seeking transfer of the amount collected by CBI during their searches on Gali and Srinivas Reddy’s residences
