COIMBATORE: The three persons who were arrested for the sensational murder of a 17-year-old girl at Saravanampatti were found to be involved in several other murders cases, police said.The special team investigating the case arrested Kannan (25) of Ganapathy, Ram Kumar (23) of Karumathampatti and Samiappan (42) of Tirupur for murdering Divya Marina on July 12 when she was alone in her house at Saravanampatti.Police said that investigations have revealed that all the three were involved in three separate murder for gain cases in Coimbatore and neighbouring districts.“Samiappan and Kannan were involved in house brokering and they got acquainted with Ram Kumar when he was trying to get a house for rent for him in Saravanampatty area,” said a police officer. Police said that Ram Kumar was involved in the murder of a couple P Shanmugham (35) and S Manomani (30), near Somanur on February 6 to loot `2 lakh and five sovereign and was subsequently arrested by the district police.“He was released on July 8 on bail and decided to relocate to Saravanampatti when he got introduced to Samiappan and Kannan. The trio came to know that Divya’s father Saleth had received `3 lakh for leasing out the ground floor of the house and decided to loot that mon ey,” said a police officer.Police said, Samiappan was involved in a murder for gain at Perumanallur in Tirupur district and Kannan in a murder at Perundurai last year. “We have gathered important evidences against the three accused and will speed up the process in filing the charg esheet,” said city police commissioner Amaresh Pujari. He appreciated the work by the team led by Assistant Commissioner Balaji Saravanan and Inspector P Periasamy for identifying the culprits within three weeks of the crime.
