BJP workers on Tuesday took out a protest march in Matura demanding martyrs' status for a constable killed during a police operation.
Constable Satish Chand was killed following a May 30 raid in Hathia village where he had gone as part of a special team to arrest a wanted person.
Demonstrators led by former MLA Pranat Pal Singh walked up to the collectorate on Tuesday where they submitted a charter of demands.
"The (constable's) next of kin should be paid compensation of Rs 50 lakh while two members of his family should be given government jobs," Singh said, sharing some of the other demands.
Meanwhile, family members and residents of the deceased constable's native Barauli village have started an indefinite dharna demanding martyr status for Chand.
