HYDERABAD: The revenue minister N Raghuveera Reddy on Wednesday said the state government has asked for the Centre to provide more drought assistance. Speaking to the media at the Secretariat on Wednesday, Raghuveeera Reddy said the central team visiting the droughtaffected areas met the chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Wednesday.
He added that the government has already announced 876 mandals in 22 districts as droughthit and sent report to the central government seeking financial aid of Rs 2,584 crore on January 13. "While the input subsidy was hiked from Rs 4,000 to Rs 6,000, the central government has been urged to hike financial assistance to Rs 3,006 crore," the minister said.Rahguveera Reddy said crop loss had occurred in 34.24 lakh hectares affecting 48.53 lakh farmers, amounting to Rs 5,746 crore. The minister said the central team which has visited Anantapur, Mahboobnagar, Nalgonda and Rangareddy districts, has been urged to give its report to Centre as early as possible.
