The State Government has finally decided to rein in the warring Vice-chancellor Dr N Prabhudev and Registrar Dr B C Mylarappa of the Bangalore University.
Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister S Sureshkumar informed the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday that both Prabhudev and Mylarappa will be warned to mend their behaviour. “The State Government will not allow them to continue with their public spat. We will issue a stern warning to both of them as their fight is threatening to affect the dignity of the university,”
Kumar said while replying to the calling attention moved by Congress MLA N Sampangi. Congress member D K Shivakumar urged the State Government to deal with both of them mercilessly as they have lowered the dignity of the university. He also demanded an inquiry by the House Committee on the issue. The written reply given by the Higher Education Minister C T Ravi on the same issue had categorically denied that there were any differences between the two and the administration of the university was going smoothly. Irked by the answer, Sampangi sought to know whether the minister’s conscience approved the answer given by him or not. “Why are you trying to mislead the House. I demand the Chairman to withdraw the answer,”he said.
