Bhubaneswar: In a new turn to the Budhia episode, Orissa government on Tuesday deferred its decision to restrain him from running long distance again.
But Budhia’s coach Biranchi Das threatened to move high court against those involved in the boy's medical test report that opposed the child repeating the feat.
After the report of the government constituted medical board, which examined Budhia on May 5, felt Budhia should not be made to run long distance.
Budhia’s coach Das then took him to the local Hi-tech Medical College where he was examined after which its cardiologist described the report of the medical board as quite premature.
"My department has discussed the medical reports of the boy. Since secretaries of law and home departments were not available to give their opinion, we are deferring our
decision," Minister for Women and Child Development (WCD) Pramila Mallick said.
The medical board is said to come out with a final report after the MRI scan and dope test on the Budhia. His coach has reportedly opposed it.
"If the child is okay why is the coach trying to avoid the tests ? We will go ahead with the medical advice even if the coach moves court," Mallick said.
Earlier, Das, angry over the forced medical examination of the boy said, "I am going to move to Orissa High Court against doctors, child welfare committee members, police and government officials on Wednesday for the manner in which they conducted Budhia's medical test."
He claimed Budhia was dragged out and taken in a police jeep to the government-run Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar for the tests on May 5.
"It was a criminal act. How did the doctors give their consent to take the child in this manner? During the test, Budhia was not a normal due to the spate of events which unfolded around him."
He said, "Despite such apprehensions, doctors went ahead with the tests. I even doubt their credibility as they acted as per the government's whims."
