Hare Rama Hare Krishna 2: Will Dev Anand deliver?
Dev Anand has turned 88 but the zeal for filmmaking has not left him yet.

New Delhi: Dharam Dev Anand aka Dev Anand has turned 88 but the zeal for filmmaking has not left him yet, and it does not seem to leave him ever.

If media reports are to be believed than Dev Anand starts to think about the next film days before finishing the ongoing project.

The media reports should be trusted, as it has happened again.

On his birthday September 26, Dev Anand has again announced a film, which is a little different in its content than his usual films.

Dev Anand's next film is going to be the sequel of 1971 hit 'Hare Rama Hare Krishna', which had featured Dev Anand as Prashant and Zeenat Aman as Jasbir. With hippie movement in the backdrop, 'Hare Rama Hare Krishna' probed about the grip of drug lords on innocent lives, where Janice or Jabir is trapped.

After some 40 years, Dev Anand’s Navketan Films has decided to take the story to another level via its sequel.

The rumours of 'Hare Rama Hare Krishna' were doing rounds since three years but Dev Anand was busy shooting 'Chargesheet'. Now, when 'Chargesheet' is over, he is again concentrating on 'HRHK'.

The new 'HRHK' will once again see Dev Anand playing Prashant, while the search for the leading lady of the film is still on. However, this time Dev Anand will not be as young as Prashant, but an evergreen image has given him the freedom of playing Prashant who is less than a decade older than the last time.

The film will be the carry forward of the old story where Dev Anand will proceed on a new mission.

However, Dev Anand's recent films have provided more of pain than entertainment.

So, far he has directed 19 films, out of which 12 films are released after 1982.

'Swami Dada' was Dev Anand's last moderately accepted film, which was made in 1982. Afterwards, his films constantly lost their charm.

The indomitable spirit of Dev Anand has produced four films in the new millennium. Unfortunately, none of them met success. Named as 'Censor', 'Love at Times Square', 'Mr Prime Minister' and 'Chargesheet', these films lacked coherence and good acting skills despite covering several issues.

It's true that Dev Anand has always tried to infuse some social values in his stories but the new age audiences want a clean production also.

Unknown faces with not so good acting talent have spoilt the game for Dev Anand.

The critics and the audiences have trashed Dev Anand's directorial ventures in recent times, but that has not dampened his spirits even a bit.

However, the matter of 'HRHK' is different. It was a hugely appreciated film of its times and thus people will have a lot of expectations from it.

The basic story is already developed for the writer and thus they will be under pressure to come up with something equally good if not better.

Dev Anand has already reached a stage and he would like to finish his grand journey with some good films. Therefore, 'HRHK' sequel might be the chance everybody was waiting for.
