Granada: Commonwealth Games Silver Medalist Harpreet Singh shot a 290 to lead the trio of Indian men's shooters into day 2 of the 25M Rapid Fire Pistol event in the 11th position, at the 51st ISSF World Championship being held in Granada, Spain.
Compatriots Gurpreet Singh and Olympic Silver medalist Vijay Kumar shot a score of 287 & 283 to be placed in 21st and 34th positions respectively. The trio would be fighting for 2 Olympic quota spots up for grabs during the final round of the event tomorrow.
On the sixth day of the competition, the trio of Sanjeev Rajput, Gagan Narang and Chain Singh bowed out of the 50M Rifle Three Positions event at the qualification stage.
Sanjeev finished 28th with a score of 1167, Gagan 32nd with a score of 1165, and Chain Singh ended a dismal 42nd scoring 1162 to dash India's hopes in the event.
