KOCHI: The Kerala High Court on Wednesday directed the police to submit a report on frauds involving huge amounts of money in the state during the last six months. Justice V K Mohanan issued the directive on a petition filed by Laji Joseph of ‘Orma Timbers’, Poonithura, challenging an order by the Cherthala Judicial First Class Magistrate Court, granting bail to Sundar of R S Puram, Coimbatore. Sundar is an accused in a case filed by the petitioner for cheating him of Rs 25 lakh.Sundar offered a Rs 2 crore loan to Laji Joseph on the security of blank cheques and other documents. He further demanded Rs 25 lakh towards advance of interest for one month. Four blank letter pads of Orma Timbers and 3 blank white papers affixed with revenue stamps and stamp papers were also given to Sundar. However, he did not arrange the loan as promised, following which Laji filed a petition against Sundar before the JFCM, Cherathala.Later, Sundar was granted bail by the court. Laji approached the High Court challenging the bail granted by the lower court. The High Court has enhanced the bail conditions for Sundar. He should appear before the Palakkad SP on alternate Saturdays and should remit a bank guarantee of Rs 25 lakh before the JFCM within a month.
