Mumbai: The Bombay High Court has said that Bollywood star Salman Khan cannot be arrested before December 20 in the 1998 blackbuck poaching case.
It has stayed the non-bailable warrant issued against Salman by the Chief Judicial Magistrate of Jodhpur court.
Justice S C Dharmadhikari observed in his order that the warrant should not be executed till December 20.
Salman has to furnish an undertaking by December 19, stating that he will abide by the judicial directive of the Jodhpur court.
The Bombay HC has also directed that Salman appear before the Jodhpur court within 10 days of filing the undertaking.
Earlier, Salman's lawyer, Shyam Marwari, had filed a bail plea in the HC and had requested the court to restrain the Rajasthan police from arresting the actor.
Marwari had said that Salman was unable to appear in the Jodhpur court because he had undergone a hair weaving surgery and he had been advised bed rest by the doctor.
The Jodhpur court had issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against Salman when the actor failed to make an appearance in the court after being summoned to record his statement and final arguments in the case.
On December 12, Jodhpur Chief Judicial Magistrate Brijendra Kumar Jain had rejected the actor's plea seeking permission to exempt him from being present in court due to medical reasons.
Salman had been booked by the Jodhpur police under the Wildlife Protection Act for allegedly killing a deer and two black bucks at Ghoda Farms and Bhawad, in Jodhpur in October 1998.
