Terrorism was identified as the biggest threat to the region in a joint declaration signed at the conclusion of the Heart of Asia conference in Amritsar on Sunday.
In a clear message to Pakistan, Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad terror groups operating on its soil were named in the declaration signed.
Earlier in the day, Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani rejected Pakistan’s offer of $500 million aid to his country, saying Islamabad should instead use it to crack down on terror groups operating within its borders. Prime Minister Narendra Modi too called for action not just against terrorists but also “those who support and finance them".
Hitting back, Pakistan PM’s adviser Sartaj Aziz, who is representing Islamabad at the summit, said it was “simplistic to blame just one country for the violence".
