HUBLI: Founder president of National Committee for Protection of Natural Resources (NCPNR) S R Hiremath made the startling revelation that his supporters had received threat calls from loyalists of former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa in connection with the illegal mining cases. He addressed the media thus on Tuesday: "Three weeks ago, a loyalist of the former chief minister called me over phone and sought that I meet Yeddyurappa. When I refused to do so, he threatened me with dire consequences." Hiremath, though, refused to reveal who the "loyalist" was.He added that he did not attach much importance to the incident then, while clarifying that it will be brought to the notice of the Supreme Court. He added that he isn’t averse to meeting the former CM, while stipulating that the latter must tender a public apology for his involvement in corruption, return all the ill-gotten wealth and admit to the irregularities. The NCPNR chief welcomed the Central Empowered Committee’s recommendation for a CBI probe into the alleged illegalities in the donations by a steel major to a trust owned by the relatives of Yeddyurappa."Yeddyurappa has spread canards in the public domain that the Supreme Court had rejected the CEC’s recommendations for a CBI probe," he asserted.
