CHENNAI: The National Cadet Corps (NCC) Directorate of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Andaman Nicobar commissioned ‘Colonel (Honorary)’ upon Prof R Rangarajan, Chancellor, Vel Tech Dr RR & Dr SR Technical University, Avadi, in recognition of his distinguished and continuous contribution to the ideals of NCC for over a decade. The chief guest of the event, Commodore Sartaj Imam lauded the efforts of the founders of the institution and also spoke about how the Chancellor had contributed to the development of NCC activities in this group of institutions. Vel Tech is one of the few institutions to have been granted all the three wings of NCC namely Infantry, Air and Naval units. On behalf of R Rangarajan, Rangarajan Mahalakshmi K delivered a special address and offered free engineering education for the best 2 NCC cadets who will be getting such awards on all India basis. Sakunthala Rangarajan, Vice Chairperson, and KVD Kishore Kumar Director, Vel Tech Dr RR and Dr SR Technical University, also participated in the event.
