The representatives of the Indian Nurses Association (INA) and management of Kothamangalam Mar Baselious Medical Mission Hospital reached a consensus on many burning issues at a high-level meeting attended by Labour Minister Shibu Baby John and Health Minister V S Sivakumar at Aluva Palace on Sunday.
At the meeting, decision was taken to set up a sub-committee, comprising representatives from Labour, Health and Nurses Education Department, to probe two outstanding issues - working hours of the medicos and nurse-patient ratio.
“The minimum wages issue has already been settled,” the Health Minister said.
Nurses who have worked for a day or a month will be made eligible for minimum wages, Shibu said.
“The pact on minimum wages was reached on March 5. The present agitation was totally unwarranted,” he added.
