CHENNAI: Within 12 hours, the suburban police cracked a case involving the theft of Rs 1.9 lakh from a hotel, arresting an employee from Bihar who had joined the outlet recently and recovered the cash at Tambaram on Thursday.On arriving at Adyar Anand Bhavan on GST Road on Thursday morning, the manager K Ramesh, noticed that a cupboard had been broke open and Rs 1,90,800, was missing. He lodged a complaint with the police.A special police team was formed and forensic experts were summoned to the scene of crime. Fingerprints gathered from the cupboard were matched with those of the hotel employees. The police got the breakthrough, when one set of fingerprints was found belonging to R Pinay Kumar, an employee from Jagarjai village in Bihar, who had joined work on June 7.Grilled, Pinay Kumar confessed that he broke into the hotel on Tuesday midnight and, removing the cash from the bureau, hid the bundle in a dustbin in his restroom at VOC Nagar in Tambaram (West). He was arrested and the entire cash recovered.
